Taxes are how the government makes money. Ideally everyone should be taxed on how much they make and not be able to stuff money in offshore accounts. Sadly with our debt to China, "wars", and government officials giving themselves raises it is not likely that taxes will be lowered. (I'm a tax preparer. So I do know what I'm talking about)
Lower income people live "hand to mouth" meaning they will spend almost their entire paycheck on goods and services immediately after receiving it, thus putting the money right back into the economy. Higher income people will tend to save more effectively taking that same money out of the economy. Corporations in general need to post profits to satisfy share holders, not hire more people.
Because people need jobs. Minimum wage jobs are convenient for people going to college that need to work, if you make it more difficult for those people to work, they won't be able to support themselves. It's an ugly vicious circle
there are three responders in particular that I have go with on this one. caluvox, ken shaw, and aitokiki. they all made especially good, well informed replies. you seem to be going at this from the wrong direction. I mean, look around yourself, do you really believe the "haves( read republicans) are truly going to let most of us into the club that they've been dismantelling or rather making more exclusive for decades? I know on the face of it what your question asks makes sense. but the reality is so far from that. the wealthiest aren't held back from creating more jobs by the little bit of minimum wage the poorest are guarranteed. jobs aren't created because the wealthiest don't create jobs out of a sense of civic duty at all. greed is what determines the actions of the wealthiest. these are only my opinions, anyone may agree or not, according to what they believe. hope my little tirade was of some help.

So the rich and super rich saw their incomes go up 28% in 2012. Middle class saw their income go down 4% you DO understand that taxes are lower than they were in the clinton era, and the Reagan era, right?
