I would recommend that you research schools that have the major that you are interested in. Maybe do what mountainmom suggested to weed some of them out possibly. I think it's more of a personal thing. Even if the school doesn't rate that well, it still might be the school for you. I believe that school is what you make of it. Ask your self what part of the country do you think you would like to spend for 4 years or more? Would you like a school reasonably close to home where you could drive home on school breaks, or would you like to be as far away from home as possible? Maybe narrow your choice down to 6, send for their school catalog and get a feel for what the school is like. Then narrow it down to maybe 3 of what you think would be the best ones, and if you can, visit them. Try to visit on a week day. Talk to some students, maybe even visit a professor in the department of the major you are interested in. Talk to them and say that you are a prospective student and have them tell you about their school and their department. Then pick the one that feels right. Good luck.
