There are many cultural and political changes in China since Mao's death. There is a greater emphasis on business profits as a way of measuring the wealth of the nation for example. More investment from outside China is allowed and there have been changes to the tax laws. Art and cultural activities are more available to the general public in China too. In a way, China is slightly 'less communist' and although it is still a long way from being a democratic nation,it is becoming more and more interested in growth and economic power and in doing business with western nations.
