How do you keep earbud headphones from breaking?

I have gotten skullcandies and they just break and I don't want to keep buying headphones that are gonna break so how do you keep it from breaking? or what is a good brand?

To keep your earbud headphones from breaking, avoid sharp pulls on the headphone cord and don't put them in water. You can also avoid walking by people who swing their arms around.
