What is the least dense layer of the earth?

Other than the atmosphere. (crust, mantle, outer core, inner core) I know that the inner core is the most dense so that's not really an option. I think it's the crust but i am not sure.

The least dense layer of the earth is the crust. This is the outermost layer of the earth and it still contains minerals that have been dated back to around 4 billion years ago. This shows that the earth's crust has been solid for quite a long time although it is the least dense. More information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structure_of_the_Earth#Crust.

The crust is the least dense. This is why it is on top of the others. crust -> mantle -> outer core -> inner core.
