If you are in the US then an arrow shaped head means poisonous. Be careful. Small may just mean its not full grown. Try this site: http://www.enature.com/fieldguides/view_default.asp?curGroupID=7&shapeID=1060

To identify the snake, look at its length, the scales, size and where you are located to know what species of snakes are found around the area. Contact your local area animal department and ask the proper authorities to come handle the snake to be sure.

Could be a viper

It could possibly be venomous... There isn't enough information for me to identify it though.
