Too skinny in the U.S. but normal in Japan?
My mom is Japanese and my dad is a black American. I am 5'4 and about 110-115lbs. No one ever makes a comment about my weight when I'm with my family in Japan, but in the U.S. it's a whole different story.
My dad's mom will constantly pile food on my plate and she has this 'don't leave the table until you've finished everything' rule. Every time I turn around she's trying to give me more food. She talks to other family members about my weight and they all chime in about how I am way too skinny. The funny think is, even with them giving me all this food, I still never put on any more weight. I get kind of frustrated because I'll be 20 in less than 2 weeks and they make me feel like there's something wrong with me. In Japan, no one has ever said, "Gee you're too skinny," not even a doctor. But in America everyone seems too agree that 5'4 and 110lbs is just way underweight...I'm confused :/
