what can I do? read description.

My girlfriend is always saying things like God I'm so fat. why do you make fun of me (I don't and she's not fat) I try telling her she isn't, but she don't listen. she thinks because she is half an inch bigger around than me (estimate) she believes she is fat. now me I love desert always have always will I like making my own deserts and chocolates and all that kind of stuff. she takes this as a very rude joke. I do not mean to make her feel that way. I don't want to just stop making deserts and I don't want to make them some kind of diet desert for I do not want her to think I am putting her on some diet because she really doesn't need one. anyone have any advice on what I could do? I hate to know my girlfriend thinks I look at her as fat cause I really don't.

This sounds like the old, "I'm not getting enough attention because you are so handsome and I don't think I'm good enough for you," act. Goodness, it's been done in so many fashions, gals really need to get a grip and come up with a new 'pay attention to me tactic.' Please know, I'm unisex on this. It works both ways. Women use the fat issue and men use the muscle issue. A couple of thoughts cross my mind. 1st, (this part is the clincher) take a moment when she's not around and CUT out pictures from magazines/newspapers, etc. of women, girls you view as heavy. Then, sit down with her and have her undivided attention. Look at her and tell her, "The important thing for both of us is for her to be happy. Here are examples of people you feel are overweight." Then tell her you have a sweet tooth and would like her to join in with making some really cool deserts. Tell her you would like to be a desert chef and have a knack for it. You would love to include her. Let her play in your chocolate making. She may like it too! See if this approach helps. Good Luck :)

Typical girl drama. She doesn't really think she is fat, she just wants to hear you say that she's not.

Next time she gets upset about the dessert, ask her what she wants. Tell her she doesn't need diet desserts, but if that is what she wants, you'll do it.
As far as her being defensive, until she accepts herself, she will struggle with your acceptance of her. You could ask her why she is pushing you away because it probably feels like she is.

Don't make the desserts when she is around, or look for ways of making your desserts more healthy - not diet, but there are plenty of things that can be substituted that can really help turn a calorie laden disaster, into a semi-healthy treat.

Regardless of if she is actually fat or not, she is feeling insecure about the way that she looks, and it's frustrating when one is trying to watch one's weight, to have someone else constantly putting tempting foods in front of your face. So even if you aren't trying to be mean, it's still not helping the situation when you are ignoring how she feels about it.

Even if she (potentially) is just looking for extra attention, it can't hurt to give her some extra compliments every now and then to help boost her confidence.

look her in the eye and say all of that you wrote above, she will shut up about it and just believes that there is someone who thinks, better yet know that she is geniunely beautiful :)
