You seem to be doing better than most people I have seen here so I would not worry too much.

You could go to classes I imagine at your local University or college, or just read lots online - newspapers, etc. that may help too.

In my experience the best way to teach adults to spell is memorization. I bought one of those word a day calendars and each day studied the word given. It helped my spelling a great deal! Good luck!

I use to be horrible at spelling, but the more books I read the better i get. Maybe it's just seeing words on paper everyday but it helped me. Good luck. I'm dislexic or something but reading helps.

I love spelling, and I think it dates back to primary school in the 1950's...at that time, they just gave you a list of words every week, maybe four or five, and you wrote them out several times until you learned them...then you had a test at the end of the week!
It worked for me then, and maybe you could adapt something like that, would not take all that much time...

I also thought the other suggestions to your question looked really great, I have done all those things and they help I think!

A fun approach that has helped me, is playing word games. I am addicted to the Scrabble app on my IPhone. It does keep my thinking and spelling up to par by playing playing public games every day. I know you've got some great comments, but keep this in mind just for fun.

Look for a non-profit literacy program in your area. They are very helpful and they want you to do well.
