Can milk allergies cause a scratchy throat?

I woke up bizarrely at 5 this morning, and I was really tired, so I went to have some chocolate milk and read a bit so I could get sleepy. I also had a few apple slices. A few moments later, my throat got scratchy, and it still unpleasantly scratchy. I've drank milk all my life and have never had a problem-I don't know why my throat is so uncomfortably scratchy-still trying to fall back to sleep, but my throat feels irritated and my right nostril is stuffy-I don't know if maybe I'm just getting sick, or what. Maybe someone sick drank from the milk carton- my sister did sound stuffy one day -_-. could that be it? thanks in advance. ugh-and what helps relieve scratchy throats? I really need sleep-I'm so tired. Thanks in advance.

Hi shaylen!! likely getting a cold:(. but, you mentioned an Apple? They do that to me sometimes if I eat the skin( which I like..crunch!!) . Think it may have something to do with Chemicals used as I know I have big time allergies to those. So maybe your throat was already bit irritated if getting a cold, and if apple had chem residue..voila!
btw., if you do get/have cold; milk products not the greatest, they tend to thicken mucus, make it harder to expel. yuk right? hope you feel better!:-).

I think you and MrJohnWayne are both right, but I'm going to try and convince myself that I won't, haha, because I cannot afford a cold! And hmm... Maybe you're onto something with the apple! And I know that about the dairy products; yucky! Had some tea with my honey, lol. Anyway thanks. :) Hope you're doing well Witt, I'm up to my ears in school work, just taking a break now! Forcing myself to keep pushing, but I have a tendency to want to veg in the evenings, haha. I have a week to do an essay and a final project! Gag me!

Yes ma'am! And I certainty can't -_-. I hate colds, but if I must get then, can it please be like, you know, AFTER the when most stressful part of school is; when it gets out?? If only! Colds don't usually come at convenient times I have found. And oh goodness-I'm sorry! Headache are the worst, especially migraines! I always wish I could detach my head when I have that! I hope you feel better! And oh boy- so sorry to hear that! How frustrating! That's a lot of money! Anyway, thank you. I hope I do too! I'm feeling run down-ugh too late to say I don't have a cold.... I would like to blame my sis-but even if she did drink from the carton, it usually doesn't trigger symptoms that fast. Well, good luck to us both. Hope everything works out for you! I probably will hardly be on here for about a week, if at all; I'll be eating Popsicles and studying/writing! Anyway, nice chatting with you:)

Well a way to help a scratchy throat is Lemon Tea. Maybe your throat is itchy because it got infected it happens a lot (trust me Lol)

Thanks. :) it defiantly is bizarre. Didn't think it was the milk; I've drank milk since I was a toddler! But it happened right after I did, so wasn't sure.

Waiting for parents to leave, so I can have the kitchen to myself lol. But thanks, I'll try that once they leave. I don't like them to know I'm up this early; it makes them stay quiet if they think I'm asleep.

If you haven't had a problem before I highly doubt that is the problem. However if you environmental allergies (this is the time of year for those) or are getting a cold and just a bit phlegmy milk can add to the phlegm. Drink some tea with lemon and honey or take a hot shower and that should help.

Thanks. :) I do have allergies, but they haven't been bad this year, other than the occasional sneeze. Didn't think it was the milk, but just wanted to be sure! Thanks!

Sounds to me like the beginning of a cold! I would gargle with mouthwash real good and then maybe gargle with salty water. You can also warm up some honey and slowly take a tablespoon or two. These all will help your throat. You shouldn't be drinking out of the carton! Although most of us still do! Hope you are well soon!

I didn't, I'm just wondering if my sis did, cause she has a tendency to do this. (The little stinker.) Thanks. And ugh-it better not be!! I can't afford a cold right now -_-. Have a final project and essay in a few short days. Anyway thanks! I'm waiting till my parents leave to access the kitchen. I like to have it to myself, lol. Especially this early in the morning.

I will defiantly do this today-better safe than sorry! Just in case.

Most good mouthwashes will kill germs quickly! So will the salty water. The honey works great! I've heard of the Lemon tea but I drink two different types of tea a day, so I don't want anymore! I'll be in the bathroom all day!

I had some tea with three teaspoons of honey, (and some sugar, lol.) and 2 waters and several cough drops. Throat is feeling better now! Thanks. :) I am going to try and keep the mentality that I don't have a cold/won't get one, haha, sometimes that helps. I'll keep eating my oranges though, just in case!
