Is cedar good burning wood for fireplace insert?

Report as

The only thing with burning Cedar wood in a fireplace insert it that it will pop a lot which causes sparks. It will also burn fast and has been said to actually cause a type of explosion. To be on the safe side it would be better to use a harder wood for burning.

Cedar isn't a good one It pops out and smokes. Hardwood such as oak is better

Also cedar creates alot of creosote residue which sticks to the chimney or stovepipe. If you already have cedar, mix with larger pieces of other wood. Cedar also takes optimally 2 years to cure.
