Possibilities of another father ?

so my dad passed away just about 2 years ago and my mom has still been really struggling with out him (like the rest of my family) . my aunt was saying how she should maybe start dating again so she has a companion with her because my older sisters are graduated college and working and the other one is going into college and I'm almost about to go into high school so there won't be a lot of people around for her . I guess I agree with it , but it just won't be the same if she has a boyfriend . my mom said its not a bad idea either . Do you think she would start dating ? if she did should I be ok with it ?

Ask yourself this, would your father want your mom to be lonely? Or would he want her to be happy?
Ask yourself the same thing.
I'm pretty sure your answer will be the same as mine.
Let Mom be happy, you're not replacing your dad. NO-ONE can replace him.

Do you want your mother to stay lonely for your sake? Of course she should start dating, as soon as SHE wants to. You date, and eventually you will marry and have your own family. Let her have a life as well, and not a life of living alone.

depending if she is over your fathers death. if she gets into a relationship and is always upset it wouldn't work out.

"The heart is afraid of change, but as time goes by, the final picture is the exact opposite of the begging." I think your mom should. Her boyfriend may be nothin like your dad, but he may also give your family new life.

I feel she should but ONLY when she's ready to... Its hard to get over a spouse that has passed and it may take a lot of time for her to heal from it. Im sure when the time is right, she will be interested in finding someone to fulfill that empty place but never taking the place of your dad. And if the guy is a pretty good person overall, then I think you should be ok with it. Your mom's happiness should be important to you.

Yes, moving on is good, just so long as she isn't with some horrible loser who she just uses to fill the void.

Well, there are not any good reasons to not be okay with it.... When there are good reasons, then it wont be okay. Like if she was dating someone who is disrespectful, or an addict, or short tempered and doesnt have much self control. In that case, it wouldnt be okay for your mom to date that person. But if its a good person, then its okay. And remember this, that he wont be your father, and shouldnt try to replace him, but he is your step father. And he will love you as his child. Gby

Dating and marrying are two different things. If she is serious and she should then she must go with one aim to marry some one, only dating to enjoy with other people may not be a good idea. Because you don't know people from their faces what actually is there in their mind. She must make any move cautiously.

first, im really sorry for your loss and second if you want her happiness, yes you should be okay with it, my parents are divorced and my father said he might start dating now, that made me really sad for a while, but had to accept it cz i want my father's happiness...You should do the same, and good luck :)
