What does 'conflict diamonds' mean?
The term "conflict diamonds" is used in reference to those diamonds that are acquired from areas embroiled in civil strife or conflict. Diamonds acquired from the Congo, Sierra Leone and Angola are referred to as conflict diamonds or blood diamonds. These diamonds are sold to fund war.
