If you had one wish to change one thing about yourself, what would that be?

I would wish for better health! This inner ear problem I have is tiresome. Also wish my lower spine would quit pinching my nerves so I could do more and walk with no pain.

Bob, I wish you would have better health, too. I don't know how you deal with both issues at the same time. I would really struggle with being nauseated. Know what I mean,.....sir? Lol!
Report as
Hello Mr Wayne!!!!! Well can I make a few suggestions.... You know I'm a nurse right? For the lower back, lay on the ground on your back and pull your knees up to your chest using your arms or have someone push lightly on the bottoms of your feet. This will stretch you lower back and decompress the disks. For your inner ear try using motion sickness pills. This usually helps a lot. Let me know how it goes....
Report as
pitbullmom2 : I have Meniere's Disease and motion sickness pills don't even fase it! I have a handful of meds I take evr e ry day that help. There is no cure. The Chiro I've seen twice told me about that exercise and I do it whenever I can. Thanks for the advice!

I would want to change...more, revert...my apparent inability to find and focus on the positives of any given [insert associative person, place or thing here]. Speaking for myself, it is super easy to focus first on the negative in something (usually without even pondering if there are positives at all) vs. the opposite and first identifying the positives and remaining focused on those as opposed to the latter.

Hey, Gail! It is easier on the internet. I like the fact that I can think through what I need to say whereas in person, I'd feel the need to just say something. When I'm flustered, I take longer to get my thoughts in order!

Hi, Diane. You aren't shy, are you?!

I actually am shy at times. I've worked through it quite a but, but when I was in school people would tell my sister that I was so stuck up. In reality, I was too shy to talk so I wouldn't make eye contact. It came across as stuck up.
Report as
Wow, Had no idea you were shy, even a little. :)
I believe there was only ever one occasion of someone's thinking I was stuck-up, and that was in my late teens. I'm still very shy, but have come a long way since then, and now there's no way anyone would ever take me as stuck-up. Ever. What a difference time can make. :)
I used to have trouble with eye contact, too, but certainly no more.
Always ice to learn about people. Have a happy mother's day tomorrow, Diane. :)

it got it's name from the children's song "Sing a Song of Sixpence"where in 24 black birds hide in a pie shell.Let me tell you a bit about it's history:It was invented in Bendigo Victoria in 1947 and fast became very popular.Production increased from 50 pies an hour to 50.000 an hour.It is tradition to eat a pie at an Australian rule football..A pie is never absent from any party in Aus.We have a large variety nowadays but the traditional Aussie meat pie with tomatoe sauce is the all time favourite. We also have sausage rolls and pasties. You can find them everywhere in Aus from service stations to your local milk bar(I think you call them corner stores).Witt I'm drooling right now and I really want a pie and I can't have one.Think Dodgy would send me one? That's all I really know witt except that I like eating them. You know a few years back I think Olivia Newton John opened up an Aussie pie shop in America called Koala Blue.I hope I have helped some.
Report as
australis
I started this on some other ans of Dodgy's when I said I missed pies and vanilla slices from home. They are yummy Witt.Don't know if Dodgy likes pies but I sure wish I had one now.
Report as
thank you for explaining. Seems the Brits, Dutch,French and Spanish spread their versions of
"pies" all over the world!
Caribbean: Pates.
Latin Areas: Empenadas
Suriname: Pastei( can be made large or hand "fist sized")
In the U.S. they've evolved into "Pot Pies" I believe..
Report as
kazarina
I buy 4& 20 pies (that's the brand) every fortnight. If I don't feel like cooking after working then I just heat one up. The dead horse is Heinz or rosella brand & we even have a ketchup too.
The VB is victoria bitter. ( it's a brand of beer) & a very popular one. It's not a designer brand. It goes with singlet shorts, rubber thongs ( flipflops for your feet) & a BBQ.

Report as
It's a toughie to overcome, but you can. Daizy did a mature-age matriculation course and in the first week they had to give a 5 minute presentation. One guy had written his down on a sheet of paper and he was so agitated while listening to the others speak that he rolled it into a tube and kept winding it around and around. When the time came for him to speak he couldn't get it to straighten out flat and was so nervous that he didn't think to crease the paper across. Even hearing the story second-hand I felt sorry for him.
Report as
I've spent a lot of my professional life teaching seminars or day-long courses on my area of expertise. This involved teaching peace officers, social workers, and various other people interested in state rules and laws. I have never had a problem making public presentations, never lost a second of sleep or suffered from a panic episode...why you ask...one word PREPARATION! Until you get used to what you're going to say, write down every word you want to say. You may not need to read it, but it will give you confidence to have it. Have your handouts ready. Practice on family and friends if you are able to do so. When you know your stuff, and you are prepared to share what you know, it will not be difficult the second or third time you give it! Humor, confidence, relaxed pace, answer questions, explain information that raises questions. You can do it!
