kids LOVE chalk its very easy to clean and gives kids a way to play with their imagination. I would say the easiest way to select the best activities would be to imagine yourself as a kid doing the activities and judging the FUNOMEETER teachers that deal with toddlers have good ideas.. ^ good luck. =)
I work a lot with preschooler's after school and a lot of them enjoy: 1) Coloring sheets (Especially character's they know like Barbie, Mickey Mouse, etc.) 2) Making animals or items they can recognize (butterflies, flowers, etc.) using paint and items such as paper plates or paper bag 3) Incorporate something they recently learned. For example the class I helped in made caterpillars with Popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and pom poms after learning the life cycle of certain animals. 4) Beads! The class I helped out had a lot of fun beading bracelets with beads and pipe cleaners (you could also use string). Even boys loved to make items out of beads for their mothers. 5) Let them be creative. If you give children a piece of paper and coloring utensils (makers or pencil crayons) they can create master pieces while having fun.
I would also check craft websites or search preschool crafts on Google for more ideas :)
my little sister likes to do scrapbooking and yes chalk and if you have a lot of toys and things instead of wasting your money on something fun spend some time with them they will, love that a lot more then being taken somewere
Chalk , also take them to the park. They will get tired after a trip to the park. Then you can put them in the car , they will fall asleep in there. So when you get home you you will have a very easy time getting them down for a nap:).
I usually let them explore what they could do with paper, glitter, glue and markers/crayons/pencil crayons. But one thing I do know they love painting (mostly with fingers), colouring and gluing items down.
