Practice! EVERYTIME you want to remember something during a time, don't give up until you do. Don't ask anyone what it was you are talking about. Just keep thinking hard until you remember. For me, by time I realize my brain is more active on the memory part. :) then if I want to remember something, I remember it quickly! I also realize that when I don't do that and just ask people my brain memory get weaker. Hope that helps!
Singing, whistling, or humming along with music is a good tool. Visualization is another method to help short term memorizing, for example if you meet someone named Fred, picture a frog, the next time you see that person you'll remember frog, fr, 4 letters, unless its a woman named Fran you have a good chance of remembering Fred.
Repitition is the first way in school you'd learn. Another way, reference... "a is to b as b is to c", like "walking the path". Another way... "Titles" find the source meaning the item is about. Like "warships", all have cannons, hulls, captains, etc. Another way, Movies today do this... Everything that doesn't move is not updated, the moving thing from the last frame to the next frame gets updated. You only have to 'remember' the differences or things that change. Like 'the new kid on the block', you already know everyone else, what's this one new one like? Another way... you imagine you are at a place where you "visualize" all that's there, like at a store - that sells only school clothes. No food or other stuff. And just as well, have a clear mind, don't stress anyone else or you, and don't be scatter-brained.
