When looking for a dog you need to put the following into perspective:
Does he have enough room in the house to not go insane? If you don't, I suggest a smaller dog. If you have a property, go for big or small.
Can you walk a big dog twice a day for at least 45 minutes? If not, smaller dog would be better.
When I had my golden retriever Radar he was easy to look after as a pup and at my parents with lots of property. When I moved to a city in an apartment he started getting lonely and depressed, eventually having to give him away.
Im right with brycea. German shepards are loyal loving dogs. Even at young ages, like my 6 month old dog, they are always at your side. They are very protective. They also understand that children are children and dont mind them messing with them. They are the best.
I agree with German Shepherd. I have a four year old and she is the smartest dog I've ever had. She knows every 'trick' by voice and hand signals. They need a lot of room to run and a lot of attention!
This question has no answer but merely opinions. If you want a small dog I'd suggest a Maltese. They're adorable, smart, lovable and they don't shed. Their fur is like human hair so there is less worry about allergies. For a big dog I'd suggest a Golden Retriever. Very smart, loyal, loving and great with kids.
