How to get rid of depression?

Report as

Depression is a tricky mental illness that effects both the mind and the body. The typical symtoms are: feeling sleepy all the time, feeling heavy or sluggish throughout the day, lack of enthusiasm, feeling ill, lack or lessening of energy, lowered sex drive. The extremes can be anywhere from self harm or suidicidal thoughts and actions. If you experience any of those symptoms see you family doctor IMMEDIATELY and request a recomendation to a therapy clinic if your family doctor cannot come up with a sufficient solution or determine possible causes. You will probably have to get blood work or go get some other tests in case these symptoms are results of other underlining factors. If you are diagnosed with depression, mania, etc... you can only surely have the probleme resolved through counceling/therapy and to extreme measures, medication to help you in the healing process. Self diagnosis is dangerous and I emphasis the need to go see your family doctor. Coming from someone who's been there, is there and never wanted to be, see or feel that way. Good luck to ya!

Medication is uaully the last resort and is not always a dure solution. Medication for depression can worsen symptoms and therapy is usually recomended; even hospitolisation before you are given meds.

find good friends then

Tesserinie, you obviously haven't ever experienced it in any way, for which you should be glad, but maybe you should not be answering such a serious question without any actual knowledge.

woah woah calm down...... just trying to be helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!! u dont know my life! maybe its happened! find some awesome friends to cheer you up then u may be happy!

With which you just made my argument stronger, again.

No one got mad. That answer isnt helpful, as most people who are depressed will alienate themselves from their social lives. They don't want friends. Sad, but true. No one was trying to say you were wrong, just that she short, plain answers dodnt add any supporting evidence to defend the point made. Yes, a support systeme is good, but just "fis good friends" or "find better friends" isnt really answering thenquestion sufficiantly.

Also, happiness should come from within. Friends are great, but they are not the solution.

Depression is a fault with chemicals anyway, so that must be fixed, too.

find the right chemicals....then............. i have had experience with depression and finding a good friend or friends who believe in you and help you through it helps ALOT. if they don't want friends then maybe music is the answer.... music helps sooth lots of pain.... sorry if i'm pissing you off i'm just trying to help a person who needs help. find your calling and embrace it....but sometimes medication is the only answer. thank you for your opinions but i was just trying to help. i hope there will be no further arguments.

It sounded like you werent taking the question seriously; sorry if I sounded snappy. People just comment pointless things too commonly on Ask.com that dont answer question, so it is easy for people to mistake the serious for the "ill just put this here because I wanna and I can". So yea :)

Glad to know you were actually being serious :)

Look at the bright side of the things in everyday life. Don't see the glass as half empty. If you look at the negative things people will notice and not want to be around you but when you look at the positive things your life will get better.

It depends on what kind if depression you have. Some situations can depress you but will eventually go away. If you are talking clinical or chronic depression you need a doctor. They will give you medication to help.

A therapist or paychologist or doctor will only give a patient medicine for depression after sessions of therapy proven unhelpful or if the patient exinots immediately troubling signs of suicidal thought, tendencies and or actions. They dont pop the pill bottle roght away; it can cause more damage at times than good.

Lol,that was a funny typo I made above. "Paychologist" was supposed to be "Psychologist"

I have been depressed a lot in my life and one thing that really helped me is doing something that I love that I can see my results in positive ways. I have been helping younger children with school work. I can see my effort going to good use and being around people I have bonded with makes me happy. When you love doing something that is positive for not only you but others, do it often.

Other things you can do is listen to music, read books, draw, talk to others about how you are feeling, and mainly taking your mind off what you are depressed about. Sports sometimes help people take out feelings. If you are feeling angry about something relating to your depression try doing something in a sport that is clean, but will take out your emotions.

I hope everything is okay for you.

Go to a counselor or therapist and keep your life positive I myself go to a therapist and I take medication and it gradually starts to fade away but depression takes time to get rid of.

Lopez, I play (and teach) tennis and over the years I have been asked this question by students, mostly teenagers. I remind them that being a teenager often can be full of ups and downs. you are no longer a little kid but maybe not exactly an adult either. your body (and mind) is changing and you have school and a lot of other things going on. you are not alone! you have people who love you, who care about you, who need you. I have learned that by living one day at a time, I am ok..usually great! enjoy life, celebrate life by being the best person you can be.. honest, helpful, hardworking, faithful, loving, caring, respectful, and on and on. reach out to that person around you who needs a helping hand, a word of encouragement, and you will be helping yourself also. also, there are many people out there who you can go to who will discuss depression or any issue you may have. they will gladly do so and in total confidence. they want to be there for you. one of many things I learned in my almost 50 years of tennis is to never give up. do the best you can every day at whatever you do and life just has a way of falling into place. most of all remember; you are loved and we all want you to have an awesome life! from the bottom of my heart, I hope telling you these things help YOU...;-) stay safe and enjoy the summer.

That isnt a solution, it's a last resort parachute. You always go for the first shoot before you pull the second cord. Therapy and counceling should be put to sufficiant use before medication is an appropriate choice (this decision should be made by te terapist or family doctor).

that's a tough one! are you certain it is depression? or is it a transient sadness that stays for a few days to a week or more? that inconsistent kind of being " down in the dumps" is a kind of normal, passing sadness. if have really have clinical depression, (which only a qualified mental health professional can diagnose) you will, most likely have long lasting feelings of hopelessness and a profound lack of interest and motivation.to rid yourself of these feelings, you will need counseling or therapy from people that have made careers in the field of mental health. most places, cities or towns, have clinics you can visit without cost to you. check it out sweetie, I know it really changed my life for the better. later.....

I'm not sure if its depression, I am just thinking about a girl way too much and get kind of a really bad feeling whenever i see her with some one els. We are just friends at the moment and don't know what to do. Help?
Report as
@LopezLegend, that's a toughie. when you say you're just friends,on a romantic scale of 10 being crazy about the other,to 1. being,I didn't know that person existed. if you had to place yourself, what number would that be? and if you had to guess at her answer, what number would you give her? also, you mentioned that you got a bad feeling when you saw her with another person. if you could sort of identify and quantify the bad feeling,I bet you could get some self insight. that's always a help.
if you can't move this from friends to more, what will really happen? I take it you know you'd survive. granted, not happily at first, but you know eventually it will get better. also,if you can't make it more than frienfship, why? do you have some thinking errors? like knowing what way she'll respond,so you just don't ask about some things you ought to ask about. like dating,or moving things up a notch? does she have some friends you feel may not like you? you sound to me,like a pretty smart guy. if you could raise your self confidence would that help? I know that I seem nosey, but I guess I'm being that way because you seem to have a real need to make things different,or at least feel better. I hope you can do both.

Well, like I said i really like this girl but she only wants to be friends and that feeling i was talking about, the feeling i get is like my heart sinks into my stomach and this happens whenever I see her with another man. I have never felt like this for a girl before. And sometimes she has family problems and wants to take her anger out on me which kind of breaks the friendship little by little and I can't even look at her without getting that feeling. Hope this information helped

Talk to someone about it. It might be hard but in the end it will mean the world to you. True friends and family will help you through it and you'll feel so much better and so loved, you'll be more confident too. I know when you're depressed you don't want to do anything and you just want to stay in bed all day and its not because you're lazy it's because you're too depressed to go anywhere and you don't wanna do things, but after you talk to someone it'll be so much better. You really miss alot when you're depressed. Go out and live life the way you want to :) hope you feel better. Stay strong. <3

Depression is commonly treated with antidepressant medications. Antidepressants work to balance some of the natural chemicals in our brains. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters, and they affect our mood and emotional responses.

The Antidepressant pills which are made up of natural ingredient are much likely to create any side effects. I would recommend you SERELAX Antidepressant pills. I had battled my depression symptoms with the assist of this pills with no side effects.
