I'm trying to loose weight. Is having a protein shake for breakfast a good idea or is that for trying to gain weight?

Report as

protiene shakes are for gaining muscle mass ONLY WHEN DOUBLED WITH EXERCISE. this may help to fill you up and therefore you will want to eat less but the best way to loose weight is to eat 6 small meals throughout the day rather than not eating. when you stop eating your body with retain all the fat in the food as it thinks this is all it is getting and need to retain the fat fopr energy. 6 small meals a day and at least 30 mins exercise a day and you will drop the kgs really well

Eating a fresh home cooked meal for breakfast is best. Drinking a fruit smoothie would be your best bet if your busy.
Skip the protein drinks unless you're really working out.

If you don't workout and drink protein shakes, for the most part they will make you gain weight. It's better to eat a nice healthy breakfast to start your day. If you want, you can get a special "meal replacement" shake and take that like once a day, better at night. Hope this helps and good luck !

There is a difference between the body-building protein shakes that you buy in huge tubs, and a quality nutritious protein shake for weight control (Herbalife Formula 1 is by far the best). The body craves nutrients most in the morning, so it should be well fed in the morning rather than at night for weight control.

Which is why I mentioned the meal replacement shake since that doesn't have the high calories and proteins as the regular protein shake does. This is better at night because your body uses the nutrition from this shake to better sustain its self over night. By the time you would have woken up, your body would have been deprived of nutrients for 6-8 hours (however long you sleep) this is why the shake is good at night because your body uses it more efficiently.

There are some awful protein shakes out there. You need to have a high quality shake that is stacked full of nutritional value (not the body building rubbish that comes in huge tubs). Your shake has to be delicious, easy to make, full of variety and regarded as a nutritious meal (not a punishment!). Two shakes a day (one for breakfast) and one colourful, sensible meal is all you need. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Speak to your local Herbalife Wellness Coach about Herbalife Formula 1.

The protein shake is good if you have a cardio and weight training regimen. The protein keep you full longer than carbs and fuels you're muscles which un turn will help you burn more body fat and will get you're metabolism burning. Make sure to eat every 3 hrs with more of you're calories coming from a protein source and soon you'll meet those weight lose goals of yours
