Can you name a child Quran

Report as

Oh, I have an extremely odd name. I wish my parents would have considered this. It would definitely be something I would think of with my child. That is your decision, hope all works out well on your decision.

Hi S! How ya doing?? Odd names are tough, especially on a younger kid trying to fit in, but i think eventually we grow to appreciate them. It's a hell of a lot better than being in a classroom of 10 Britneys, and 7 Sophies. ( no offense to all the Britneys : )

And.... Not to make light of your different name, but whatever it is..you are still a sweetie. No matter what you answer to. ; ))))

You can but think of the Pros and Cons involved with names and see if the child wont get taunted in the future with what you pick for your child's name.

You can name your child whatever you wish but a name like that can have many consequences. Teasing, offense taken by Muslim schoolmates, etc. you must be prepared to explain to the child why of all names you picked one that is so religiously and politically charged.

My parents say you should name your child based on standing on the porch and yelling for them. Would you want to stand there yelling, "Englebert!" Or would you rather yell, "Jimmy!) :)

At risk of having the post removed as offensive, I have to ask, "Are you CRAZY?" Haven't you even considered the problems that name would create for the child? Go back and read sliceoflife/s answer again.

Then you might go and play Johnny Cash's song, "A Boy Named Sue". And Sue didn't have nearly as many problems as Quran would cause.

Where do they get these ideas?

Mind you, being called 'Dozy' can't have been easy growing up....
Report as
I'd have been delighted if Dozy was all I'd ever been called.

There's a trend now to give kids original -- or better, unique -- names and some of the results are comical. I doubt if they'd be comical for the kids who are likely to be bullied at school.

Quran would be particularly comical and I'd even be willing to attend church for the Christening, just to hear the parson struggling with it.

Hey yeah - I think I will have another kid! Call him Holy Bible. See how it works out for him or her.

Purely in the interest of science of course..

Of course, waldorff.

And hi to you slice.
