Whens The Best time to decorate for Christmas

Report as

I started already.Depends where you live..Living in the Northeast,it gets pretty cold quickly AND I DON'T DO COLD lol.I put up outdoor lights now.You can't see them on the trees, but they are there, ready to be lit on Thanksgiving.I do all outside decorating in November..Early.
We buy our tree..Either fresh cut by us, or at a nice tree farm,where trees are cut already. Weekend of Thanksgiving.Keep it in water till you bring it in. Make a fresh cut and keep it watered every day when in the house.
I just wrapped gifts and will put up one artificial tree in my playroom this week.Christmas should be enjoyed with little stress as possible. Why wait the last minute? You can spend that rushing time on doing something nice for another instead of stressing out because of waiting till the last minute .
Don't forget to donate to the food shelter or toy drive.You will feel good:)
Merry Christmas,
Happy Hanukkah,and Happy Holidays all...

Great answer, Jan! You are so organized & prepared...I am very impressed. Hey since your lights are hung already, want to come & hang mine? {^_^}

excellent advice. I love to look at those HGTV shows with the over-the-top Christmas displays! But those must take a lot of time!!! You have to start way earlier than Thanksgiving if you do one of those.

TY...true missmario..it takes forever.I would be wasting my time if I waited till the last minute..By the time I put it up, it is time to take it down because you want to beat the storms that cement everything till Spring unless you beat the storm..
I put up like 3 trees but only one is real..I love the holidays....:) Some kids never grow up lol

Whenever you're able to spare the time and if you are decorating outdoors, when the weather permits. But typically not until Thanksgiving at least. If they're up too long they become less special...and also if it is outdoor decorations, they do get battered by the weather.

Well, I had to deliver to a Lowes AND a Home Depot on one black Friday. The 2 stores were less than 10 miles apart. The dock area at Lowes was full of parked cars (Walmart shoppers). It literally took ALL day! The less than 10 mile drive between the stores took over 2 hours. The next year I delivered to a Target...I arrived just after midnight (early for my 02:30 appt, but I thought it best) There wasn't much activity. When I was unloaded at 06:30, I pulled away from the dock, but could NOT get out of the parking lot! Go ahead & laugh..it is funny now (course, I'm still not actually laughing) {^_^}

Well, look at it this way: the longer you have your lights up, the more energy they will use.

So, if you are trying to keep your energy bill down, decorate no earlier than the 2nd week of December.

If you can afford whatever you want, do it as early as you want but please, respect the Thanksgiving holiday - I'm so sick of everyone putting up Christmas before Thanksgiving.

Hey, Summer. Don't throw a drumstick at me. I decorate early because I love Christmas way more than turkey. Did you get new towels?
Report as
Oh, I know some people prefer Christmas to celebrating the holiday of Thanks.

No, I'll be buying a new towel tomorrow.

This boy has a sad family situation: the father is yelling over the phone at the mother and I am hearing a lot of violence on both sides (yeah, I can hear her, too when I went past him to get out of the house).
