Motorcycles are far more dangerous and in an accident, if you're the one on a motorcycle, you will suffer more injuries, while someone in a car would be more protected by the frame of the car and they would also not fly off the way you would from a motorcycle. Cars can also carry more people more comfortably and can also accomodate more extra stuff. The advantage of the motorcycle is that it's far more fuel-efficient - you will get way better mileage from a motorcycle. It's also more fun to drive.
I personally would opt for a car. A car obviously gives more flexibility with regards to carriage. You can carry more passengers and goods. Furthermore, a car could be a temporary 'home' for those times when life hands you hard lessons.

Depends, I have both. For commuting for weather reasons go for a car. I ride my motorcycle as a hobby and on simple short grocery store runs or restaurant runs, since my bike has great mpg. It is very dangerous, although more so if you don't have the proper experience on one. I know quite a few without a license and have laid theres down because of it.
