Hi Stranger, Having to deal with physical pain can bring on feelings of ANXIETY,FEAR,and HELPLESSNESS and that can be very frightening Stranger. But one has to learn to retrieve their strength and control.Don't let your condition beat YOU.I know it can be challenging and scary most times but you must never give up hope.
There are many things you can do to alleviate some of the pain and in time (as horrible as it may sound)you learn to live with it and control it.Stress only aggravates your condition and you must learn to AVOID it.How you ask?By learning to relax and letting go of your fear that consumes you..is a good start.
Stranger, read my comment to Neanderthals answer and you will see that I too have been there and I too was scared and very anxious.
try to appreciate what I'm saying,if you, deep down felt no hope remained, you wouldn't have bothered to post this. so,now you know that you have at least a tiny shred of hope, and that little shred gives you something to endure with. of course I can't know exactly what you're going through, but I've been at the bottom of the well myself at a time in my life as well. so I'm here to tell you: nothing is so bad it can't get better, ever. and there isn't anything that cannot be remedied. I know this sounds corny, but it really works; start slowly to count the good in your life,if nothing is good compare it to how bad it could be and isn't. you write like a fairly articulate woman. which implies you must be intellegent. at this point you may need to leave some things on the side until they can become your focus again and concentrate only on what you can improve right now. it can really surprise us how many items and people we can( if need be) get by without. really,if you draw up a list of what/who can be changed or fixed one way or another the easiest and chip away at those things you will see progress. it Will get better. even with us not knowing each other I can say it with confidence. I'm sorry for going on so much but what you wrote really effected me. I hope so much that things start to look up for you soon.
I do not have what you have. I am bi polar, clinical depression and PTSD. Live is a roller coaster. Up and down every day. Never know what the day will bring. Right now I am up with insomnia. It is a struggle. Wish I knew the answers.

No hope for what? JayG203 advised you get to the root of your feelings and that is what you need to do. Answer honestly to yourself, the main cause questions; what, when, where, why, and how. If it is an uncontrollable situation, take deep breaths, smile, and follow the directions to get out from it. If you made a mistake and hurt someone else, you'll need to take your tongue lashings and keep saying "yes I know I'm at fault" and "I'm sorry". If you were hurt, wrongfully, I know your pain. Go your own way - without vengeance. If you feel empty, help someone who needs more help than you. Even though we may not be able to see the "light at the end of the tunnel" until we make our way to the end, we still know it is there, we just have to keep moving toward it in order to reach the end, but we will see it, it is there. Some one, some where, is needing you. Don't dwell on the negative and get out of the house. Never look for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There is no end to the rainbow. It can't be touched; but it is an everlasting promise to mankind So today can be good and each day can be today.
All I can say is face each day as it rolls around. Grab any moment that distracts your pain & hold it tight. Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends who will be there for you on your bad days. I had a friend who I use to help by simple things like vacuming her home, running errands for her. Styling her hair to make her feel Beautiful. It didnt banish her back pain but it did help her cope with having it. We are all here for a reason & that is to make others lives better which in turn makes us a better person. Strength comes from within but is encouraged from without so I hope there is always a good friend nearby on the bad or sad days.
When you are the hammer, strike; When you are the anvil, bear. What ever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Trite, yes but true. this community has so many wise people in it. isn't it wonderful how many people you've never met face to face really truly care about what happens to you and want to help you feel better about yourself and what life is sending your way? that's the way this community is. Good luck, and like somebody already said, keep on keeping on!
ps I gave everybody a star for their wise caring answers.
