What to do when you feel like there's absolutely no hope left?

life is kicking my butt. Any tips on how to get rid of this feeling?

Hi Stranger,
Having to deal with physical pain can bring on feelings of ANXIETY,FEAR,and HELPLESSNESS and that can be very frightening Stranger. But one has to learn to retrieve their strength and control.Don't let your condition beat YOU.I know it can be challenging and scary most times but you must never give up hope.

There are many things you can do to alleviate some of the pain and in time (as horrible as it may sound)you learn to live with it and control it.Stress only aggravates your condition and you must learn to AVOID it.How you ask?By learning to relax and letting go of your fear that consumes you..is a good start.

Stranger, read my comment to Neanderthals answer and you will see that I too have been there and I too was scared and very anxious.

True. Do you know anything about how to relieve pain from seizures?
Report as
It will go away Neanderthal and am sure it did few times and you didn't notice it! maybe cause you were focusing on the wrong side of the big picture. Even if was gone for few seconds, am sure it was worth the waiting :) Plus come on! You can't be feeling this way. You are doing a woderful job here, helping us with your amazing helpful answers :) Am very sure you don't need me to tell you that you are way stronger than you think you are. Does anyone know how to relieve sore muscles from seizures?
Report as
Thanx to both of you. What kind of pain do you have from your seizures? The muscular pain?? If that is so, go on amazon.com and type in DMSO. It really helps but some people are a little sensitive to it.
Soothanol works AMAZINGLY well but is a bit expensive. A little lasts a long time though.
Report as
Thank you sooo much!!! I am willing to spend any amount if it will work! Thanks again!
Report as
A one oz bottle costs about 48 dollars I think. Read the reveiws before you get it but I think you will find that just about everyone that has used it has loved the stuff. The DMSO is quite a bit cheaper... but doesnt work for everyone.

Best of luck... I hope everything works out.

Time for this old man to get to bed. I want to go kayaking in the morning.
Report as
Good Night :)
Report as
I kinda like sore muscles if you ask me... As for the seizures I think the worst is when people make a big deal about it. I end up with like a dozen people in my face while I'm just coming to and I have a head ache and I have no bearings but worst is my emotions are jacked out of wack... I hate it...

Mia,you received some very good advice here and I know how hopeless things can seem at times but trust me YOU don't ever want to give up the fight.A few months ago I thought I was truly going to die from severe back pains and foot pains.Even breathing was a challenge as it hurt tremendously.I was like this for 3months and stupid doctors never really found out what was wrong and just had me on meds and were giving me shots twice a day.I was bedridden for so long and I was totally alone because I was in a foreign country.I still hurt till today and there are times I just want to cry but I don't give up.You have a friend in me whenever you need.

Aussie, big hugs right back to you. My husband is in severe pain all the time. He was a real cowboy and riding a mare in season. He rode past a stallion that wouldn't take no for an answer. In the ensuing battle, Husband got between the two rear ends, got kicked at least 9 times=spinal cord injuries. He injured it again on the job falling off the top of a semi-truck he was covering. A couple of years ago he suffered two strokes and his riding was truly over forever. He considers the pain he's constantly in to be a battle. He can't lie down until the battle's over, so every day he gets up, does his stuff, takes care of me, and smiles into my eyes with such love that I nearly swoon. My point is, if he can bring such joy into someone else's life, he has a purpose in life that surpasses all pain. I can recommend a good book that has helped many people. Spiritual Healing in a Scientific Age. It is by Robert Peale. Many have been healed just by reading this book. Aus, you are a great bringer of joy, your giving spirit, gentle nature, and kindness give you the right to be free from this pain--both physical and spiritual.
Neanderthal, the same goes for you. Too many times we believe we have no choice, if the doctors can't help us, we're destined to suffer. Give that some more thought. I think challenging the verdict is in order. Hugs to you both.

Koichan.... Has your husband tried Soothanol for his pain? The stuff can be found on Amazon....it is kind of expensive but it says a little goes a long way. You may find it beneficial. Read the reviews and see what you think. Just trying to be helpful

@Koichan..your kind words alone have already made me feel better Koichan Thank you so much.
@Neanderthal...Think I'll try it as well Sean. There are nights when I just can't stand the pain.
Report as
Try it australis... It is suppose to be around $48 dollars for a one ounce bottle but ONE DROP is suppose to be able to take away a lot of pain. Read the reviews before you order it. I dont make any money pushing this stuff. I just do a lot of research on natural cures and natural healing.
Report as
Good luck with it if you do try it. I am sorry you are in pain.

I didnt end up going. Ended up doing yard work instead. Mowed and tried to seed some bare spots. Also bought a lot of flowers for the porch. Working nights really inhibits my ability to get out to the river or the Gulf at a decent time, sometimes.
Kayaking is awesome....esp in Florida. So many beautiful rivers to go down and many different animals to come across. Our favorite river is full of alligators, monkeys, and so many different kinds of birds. It is very peaceful and relaxing.... even when you have to paddle.

Re: profile pic. You should have seen the caveman in a t-shirt pic he used for awhile. It was hilarious! :)
Report as
@australis... Yeah, big and soft. Just how I want to be remembered.

@Happy....If you love canoeing, you would really like kayaking. Kayaking can be faster (if you want to go faster) and a kayak is easier to navigate.
Report as
That's what I heard. Mr. Happy steers, so I don't have to use too much finesse. We usually go to lakes. There are rivers nearby, but I only canoed the Mighty Mississippi once. What a current!
Report as
I dont think I would want to challenge the rivers of the northern climes... Your rivers a lot faster and more treacherous. Lots of random crap floating in the big ones. I will stick with my crystal clear spring fed rivers. Lol. Oh, I do go out in the Gulf and the Atlantic sometimes though... Last year a manatee came up next to my kayak to check me out... I reached down to pet it and it got scared. It dumped me out of my kayak. lol... too funny.
Report as
I must bid you all adieu. I have to do some work on my bicycle if I want to ride it home from work tonight.
Happy.... Did Mr Happy peruse through that stuff I sent?

Australis... I take no offense to being a big softy. I am... for the most part.

Wow, if the kindness found on here was bottled & sold to the world as a medicine, I'm sure it would cure all ails. I've been lucky so far only had a broken foot that tried to put me out of action for 4 months. It was painful but I got on my my crutches & did a one km walk instead of a ten. It took me thirty minutes where normally I would have walked 3 or 4kms in that time. But I know the day will come & I will find my share of physical pain catches up to me. Not looking forward to that. I really believe all the walking (and I need to do more nowadays as I don't walk as longer walks here in the country. It's not safe to.) has kept me healthier & not eating vegies since I was 12 has done me no harm either. But I hope you all are able to find a solution that will enable you all to live with your pain in a way that it interferes less with your everyday lives. A visit to the naturopath may help if you believe in natural products that are drug free. It's not easy being in pain.

Anyone, and I mean Anyone who would make fun of you for having a seizure or laugh at you for biting your tongue is out of their mind. So you sound pretty sane to me...your one step ahead of them already;)
A famous lady ( Eleanor Roosevelt . FDR's wife) said...
" No one can make you feel inadequate without your permission"

Don't give it to them. They can't have it!! And, when was the last time your seizure medication was evaluated ?
I am sorry you are going through this now. What does the dr. say about the frequency of your seizures. ?
More important than anything else is your reaction to setbacks in life. You are in charge of your attitude , no one else can determine that for you. When life gets you down count your blessings.... You have many.

try to appreciate what I'm saying,if you, deep down felt no hope remained, you wouldn't have bothered to post this. so,now you know that you have at least a tiny shred of hope, and that little shred gives you something to endure with. of course I can't know exactly what you're going through, but I've been at the bottom of the well myself at a time in my life as well. so I'm here to tell you: nothing is so bad it can't get better, ever. and there isn't anything that cannot be remedied. I know this sounds corny, but it really works; start slowly to count the good in your life,if nothing is good compare it to how bad it could be and isn't. you write like a fairly articulate woman. which implies you must be intellegent. at this point you may need to leave some things on the side until they can become your focus again and concentrate only on what you can improve right now. it can really surprise us how many items and people we can( if need be) get by without. really,if you draw up a list of what/who can be changed or fixed one way or another the easiest and chip away at those things you will see progress. it Will get better. even with us not knowing each other I can say it with confidence. I'm sorry for going on so much but what you wrote really effected me. I hope so much that things start to look up for you soon.

No hope for what? JayG203 advised you get to the root of your feelings and that is what you need to do. Answer honestly to yourself, the main cause questions; what, when, where, why, and how. If it is an uncontrollable situation, take deep breaths, smile, and follow the directions to get out from it. If you made a mistake and hurt someone else, you'll need to take your tongue lashings and keep saying "yes I know I'm at fault" and "I'm sorry".
If you were hurt, wrongfully, I know your pain. Go your own way - without vengeance. If you feel empty, help someone who needs more help than you. Even though we may not be able to see the "light at the end of the tunnel" until we make our way to the end, we still know it is there, we just have to keep moving toward it in order to reach the end, but we will see it, it is there. Some one, some where, is needing you.
Don't dwell on the negative and get out of the house. Never look for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There is no end to the rainbow. It can't be touched; but it is an everlasting promise to mankind
So today can be good and each day can be today.

All I can say is face each day as it rolls around. Grab any moment that distracts your pain & hold it tight. Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends who will be there for you on your bad days. I had a friend who I use to help by simple things like vacuming her home, running errands for her. Styling her hair to make her feel Beautiful. It didnt banish her back pain but it did help her cope with having it. We are all here for a reason & that is to make others lives better which in turn makes us a better person. Strength comes from within but is encouraged from without so I hope there is always a good friend nearby on the bad or sad days.

You're welcome! Also I just recalled a story from some where about a man who was sad because he had no shoes...until he met a man who had no feet. I Moan and groan all day about my broken ankle that still hurts after 3 years, and then I remember my friend who went into the hospital to have a toe removed because of diabetes and came out of surgery with most of her leg below the knee missing. It is human nature to want a perfect life. We just have to accept what we have and learn to use it to our advantage, I guess. Hang in there. The best is yet to come!
