EtG test for DMV required alcohol evaluation? (read for more details)

So I have an alcohol evaluation coming up and was told I needed an EtG urine test. I am not going to drink for 4 days (96 hours) before the test, to be safe, since most sites say 80 hours at least.

My curiosity is, if I do happen to show a positive whether it be false or not, what does that even mean for the evaluation? I am 23 and for all they know I just drink occasionally. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this and could tell me how they use it in the evaluation. I need to pass.

There have been a lot of skepticism also that this test is very sensitive, for example using hand sanitizer, which I do plan to avoid all alcohol containing products.
I just really need to pass this evaluation.

I understand how you feel as driving must be important to what you need to do in life, but if you are a chronic drinker, which I have to assume since you say they think you only drink occasionally, the amount if alcohol saturation in your body is not going to be gone in 4 days. It can be found in your fingernails , hair, swab kits, and you plan on resuming drinking again after your 4 days and if you pass, you plan on driving this way. I'm sorry but I don't think you're going to lass. Why? Because you did not really take care of the problem . It didn't mean enough for you to really stop and heal yourself, therefore, you will be putting other lives in danger if you pass to drive. I know what I speak of. My daughter in law died of alcohol poisoning because she didn't stop. This is deeper than you getting to drive again. With the concentration you have in your body, you won't pass.

Maybe you misunderstood part of my details. My point was, there are some people who drink occasionally and are over the age of 21, but from every site I see it makes it seem like you have to test completely negative. Which just to be on the safe side I am not going to drink at all before the evaulation. I am not on probation or anything, and wasn't told I was allowed to drink at all, but I want to be on the safest side possible. I am not a heavy drinker. I made a mistake and will never do that again. I used to drink occasionally, but now I will only have wine once in a while when going out with my family. It is a DMV required evaluation, not court mandated or anything.
I appreciate your advice though and I am sorry to hear about daughter in law. I am not trying to beat the system per say, I just want them to believe me I learned my lesson and I AM taking care of myself.
I just don't want to fail due to false pretenses, I will have no other way to go to school in the fall if I don't pass this.

And I wasn't being negative. I was coming from a really sad part of my heart because I see what drinking can do. My answer was written in a true tone of concern, not one of judgement. I was just not sure if you'd lass or not and didn't think you should risk it with what ai understood the question to mean. You are welcome to flag this and they may remove my answer. Do you see where it says "report as"? Just press that and choose "offensive" and hopefully they will remove this for you. They don't give us the option of reporting our own answers. You'll have to do it. Again, so sorry.

To have a positive evaluation for EtG test for DMV alcohol evaluation means that a legal action can be taken. However, scientific evaluation is recommended so as to verify the results. This form of testing is sensitive and therefore alcohol based exposure should be avoided. Go to http://www.testcountry.org/pros-and-cons-of-alcohol-etg-testing.htm for details.
