Why lion in considered as the king of the jungle? not elephant

Report as

The lion is considered as the king of the jungle because it has a majestic appearance and it is also at the top of the food chain. A lion maintains a balance by killing some animals like antelopes. If antelopes are not reduced in an ecosystem, they will deplete all the grass resources.

I really don't know why either would be...neither one live in the jungle. Plus the lioness does ALL the work, the lion is lazy.

Lions have been mistakenly called the "king of the Jungle," but the fact is, lions do not inhabit jungles.

They seem to have a sense of pride. And I believe the name lion in the native tongue (whatever it would be) means king.
