Why do my taste buds hurt at the first bite of every meal?

it hasn't always happened. just started a couple years ago

Report as

The pain could be as a result of eating food that is too salty or exposure to acidic foods like grapefruit and lime. In addition, exposure to tobacco smoke, eating food that is too spicy or hot food could also be the cause.

Thanx for your help. I would agree with you but I haven't smoked a cigarette in 15 months and I don't use salt or acidic foods. I can eat a piece of toast w/ nothing on it and it hurts but only on the first bite.

It is probably as a result of delayed saliva introduction when you put food in your mouth. The reason it stops hurting after the first bite is because there is free flow of saliva.
