Joseph was not Jesus' actual father, Mary gave birth to Jesus but was still a virgin, Joseph was married to marry and raised Jesus so he is considered His earthly father but Jesus' actual father is God or Jehovah :)
This answer is for Jaycee123: I agree with Deanawynn explanation. Looked up scriptures myself. "Until they learn that you alone, Jehovah, are the God above all gods in supreme charge of all the earth".( Psalms 83:18). Living Bible. "That man may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth." [KingJames Version] What is so hard to understand, Both translations say God has a Name. It's the personal name of the only true God. Bible says " Be careful---watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart." (1Peter 5:7). Living Bible. "Don't let others spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies, their wrong and shallow answers built on men's thoughts and ideas, instead of on what Christ had said." (Colossians 2:9). Living Bible Satan has religions so divided on what each one believes, debating, so much disunity about what the Bible teaches. The Bible has a good description of those who misinterpret the Bible for personnel gain or just to get people to follow them. "We are not like those hucksters---and there are many of them----whose idea in getting out the Gospel is to make a good living out of it." ( 2 Corinthians 2:17). Living Bible Yes, the almighty God Jehovah is called by many titles, but he has a personnel name.
Jehovah is simply one of several names used for God/Christ, Jesus true father. Joseph was the man chosen by God to wed Mary and be Jesus father on earth. Jehovah is the latinized version of the Hebrew YHWH or Yahweh which was the name used for God in biblical times. The specific name 'God' is a fairly recent translation of Yahweh/Jehovah.
Joseph was the earthly father of Jesus, the man entrusted to raise the Son of God. Joseph was also a carpenter, or skilled craftsman. He obeyed God in the face of severe humiliation. He did the right thing before God, in the right manner. Joseph was a man of strong conviction who lived out his beliefs in his actions. He was described in the Bible as a righteous man. Even when personally wronged, he had the quality of being sensitive to someone else's shame. He responded to God in obedience and he practiced self-control. Joseph is a wonderful biblical examples of integrity and godly character. God honored Joseph's integrity by entrusting him with a great responsibility. It is not easy to entrust your children to someone else. Imagine God looking down to choose a man to raise his own son- Joseph had God's trust. Mercy always triumphs. Joseph could have acted severely toward Mary's apparent indiscretion, but he chose to offer love and mercy, even when he thought he had been wronged. http://christianity.about.com/od/newtestamentpeople/p/josephprofile.htm
