I think my friend is lying about having cancer, what should I do? Read more. Please help.

My friend started making up stories a while ago but lately her lies have been getting more serious. For example she sits next to me in the 8th period and like a couple weeks ago i heard her say something about her "stepdad" to this guy, who was her crush then but is now her boyfriend. And i was all like what are you talking about you dont have a stepdad and she was like yeah my dad isnt my actual dad. This would be somewhat believable if she didnt look exactly like her so called "stepdad." The other problem with her story is that she said her real last name is McKendrix. Later i found out that she also said that her "real father" died of leukemia when she was 4. Recently she started saying she has leukemia but the day she told us she has cancer i told my mom and then my mom and one of other friend's mom called my friend who says she has cancer's mom and asked her if her daughter had cancer and her mom was really confused and she said she is waiting till the summer to get chemo (she told us this months ago) what should i do? should i confront her? please help

I would stay out of it. If she is making all this up, she will be digging herself into a deep hole, but there's no reason you need to wield a shovel as well. If you must say something, say it privately to her that she will get into difficulty, even trouble, exaggerating the "drama" of her life. Then leave her to make her own mistakes if she insists on doing so.

She doesn't sound like much of a friend to me. Talk to her about this with you and her no one else. This is a pretty serious business that shouldn't be faked about.Or,just not even be in this convo. stay out of it.

If her mom said she's waiting to have chemo in the summer then she has cancer ! I don't know about the step dad thing but people say I look just like my brother in law and they think we're related but we aren't so maybe she isn't lying at all. Talk to her about it if you are concerned but don't accuse her of lying about cancer right off the bat :) good luck

Sounds like your friend is looking for some attention... People who you can't trust to be honest when having a normal conversation won't be honest and can't be trusted in the future. Only you can make decisions about who you want to be friends with but my advise is to make friends with people you can trust and care enough to be honest with you or you will only be let down, good luck :)

you can alway tell her mom that you are so sorry she's sick and you are there to help if her or the step-dad need any help. That should clear thing up. If it's true your a good friend if not she's busted.

Try talking to her, if she is lying then clearly something is going wrong in her life. It could be as simple as looking for attention, or needed reasurance that youd be there for her no matter what. It could also be something more serious like pathalpgically lying
