Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is known as Capital City but has it ever had a nick name like "the Big Apple" (New York)?

Report as

Ottawa has never really had a nickname per se, although many people use its original name-Bytown-, as its nickname. Ottawa was founded as Bytown in 1826, but was later incorporated as "Ottawa" in 1855.

No. Ottawa : Derived from the Algonquin term adawe, “to trade,”
the name given to the tribe who controlled trade on the Ottawa River.
The name of the Ottawa River was called Riviére des Outouais on
their first map produced by the French in 1702. Ottawa would be
called first Bytown after Lt-Col. John By of the Royal Engineers. The
name Ottawa was officially adopted in 1855.
