Is life's meaning about beating everyone else?

I means there's so much competition is this what God wants? For us to beat each other till the end?

Report as

Umm... No, well... at least not as I see it.
"The meaning of life" is different for everyone, but I suppose some people view life as a never-ending competition... I only know I don't see it as such. Sounds to me like a sure-fire way to be really unhappy & frequently disappointed... "No thanks!" :)

We're ALL going to die at some point, but we don't have to live our lives in constant competition with one other. I don't see that it serves much purpose, seems that doing so would be very hectic, frustrating, stressful, etc., and more importantly, unnecessary. Why put yourself through all that nonsense, always trying be the best at everything..? What does it matter, really? In the end, we're all gonna be equally dead, anyway...
I prefer trying to be happy, rather than trying to be better than everyone... :)

Good.
But growing up my father always taught me to be the best and never stand for less.
Differnt cultral I suppose.
Sorry for erros in grammer.

There's nothing wrong at all with doing your best, especially when it comes to your education/schooling, but you don't need to be "The Best" at EVERYthing! That's putting a lot of pressure on yourself that you don't need. Doing your best is great, but trying to be better than everyone else is just exhausting, not to mention... it's not even possible! :)
What is your cultural background, if you don't mind saying so..?
PS: You have a lot less grammatical errors than many of the English-speaking/writing people on Ask! :)

God wants us to glorify him in all we do and love one another.

No, all that leads to is one horribly disfigured person and several billion people who used to be friends. God wants us to love each-other. Human nature wants us to beat each-other.

Too late we're already doomed.
Either win or lose.
That's all ther is to life.
I want to be a winner.
What do you choose?
Report as
I choose to ignore this stupid brawl and spend my energy in a valiant attempt to heal this world and show Gods love. In choosing that I have already won.

Ah. The turtle is not MADE to follow a bird, but to make his own path...

Exactly. Some people are made to compete and find strength and purpose there. I find strength and purpose in the contemplation of God and in aiding my fellow man.

Life is a competition. Survival of the fittest. But we should not bring each other down. We should be going higher, not pushing others down.

No. Once you get to adult ages, life is about establishing a career, a family, and the next generation. Competition is replaced with cooperation, and later with mentoring.

No, it's not what God wants. He wants us to love each other unconditionally. That's not always the case.

Opinions are like noses everyone has one The choice is ours, life is what we make it. However some have pondered over the purpose of life and how to find it. But ask yourself this question, were humans made just to live for a few years and then die? After thinking seriously about this question I did some further investigation. I would like to share my findings if you really want the answer to the question you asked.

In the "Small Catechism" it says something like this:
What is man's chief purpose? To love God and enjoy Him forever.
I really like that...

No, why would He! You're talking about people of the world, not happy with what they have and they think more will actually help!
My happiness is my children and grandchildren. Besides necessities such as food, water and shelter, who needs more than that?
There's those who will never be happy and you've witnessed a few on hear who reflect that. Misery loves company, and to spread it.

Of course not. God loves us all equally, so we don't need competition. Knowing God loves me I don't feel. A need to be better than anyone. I am content with His love.

Nope. The meaning of life, by definition and by the purpose are two different things. The definition you can look in an encyclopedia. The meaning in the other sense: God made humans to praise Him, and to love them as their Father. That s our purpose. Aside of that, since so many things happened, each one of us has the task that Jesus taught that we must praise God and help other people to accept Jesus and also accomplish their purpose. Because only those who accept Jesus can be part of the family of God. That s the purpose of life, and God is the one who leads us through it. Gby.

No. Thats really sad. Our original purpose was purely to love and be loved by God and enjoy everything He had given us. But we screwed that up. So along with the original purpose, our purpose came to be to go out and spread Gods good word and try to bring as many people back to God as possible.
