How do I help my friend lose weight for her wedding ? Only 5 months before her big day and she says she's "unmotivated without my help".

Be supportive by, not going out to eat or choosing salad when dining with her. Nothing is worse than being on a strict diet and your friend is eating cookies, right in front of your face. Also, suggesting activities like hiking or rollerskating instead of going to the movies. Remember brides tend to go bridzilla during the planning of the wedding and stress induces hunger so, take her mood swings with a grain of salt, and keep healthy snacks on hand so temptation can be kept at bay.

Should she really be trying to lose weight when there's only 5 months left? Will her dress still even fit?

That's actually the problem! She lost weight this past year and over the last few months she gained a little bit of it back and now her dress doesn't quite fit. I told her just to get it re-fitted but she insists on just losing the weight again and told me that she doesn't feel I am being supportive in helping her meet her wedding goals.

Just support her and tell her a lot that you believe in her and you know she can do it!!

Ask her what she thinks is helpful- accountability asking if she worked out and ate right, working out with her, reminding her, reviewing her list of foods eaten, tracking weight loss or just simply say you can do this and encourage

Tell her the apple rule. If she says "I'm hungry." ask her if she wants an apple and if she turns down the apple, she isn't really hungry.

Does she really want to lose weight for her wedding? Is that, perhaps, YOUR idea of what she should do? Because if her wedding doesn't motivate her to lose weight . . .

She was super motivated this past year and dropped a bit of weight. Unfortunately, she gained a few pounds back these past couple months and now she is having trouble fitting in her dress. I do not feel she needs to lose any weight, in fact I just told her to have her dress re-fitted. She told me that she feels as though I am not supportive of her goals for her wedding. That is why I posed this question on how to help her.

I see. Well, if her own wedding isn't enough to motivate her, I don't see how you can be held responsible. What more motivation would you have that she doesn't already have? Do your best, but don't let her blame you is she doesn't meet her goal.

you can't lose it for her. so if looks fat or can't fit in her dress it's her problem. Not yours.
tell her if she wants to lose 20 lbs of ugly fat? to cut off her head.

Give her the number to a good tailor :) if walking down the isle doesn't motivate her she better get used to the way she looks now and stop worrying about it. Brides can drive you crazy, just tell her you support her but she has to want it. If you can't take it anymore just keep telling her she looks great no matter what. Good luck :)
