I have red walls, I want to paint them a light medium grey. What is the best paint to buy to cover it without having to do a lot of coats?

My walls are like the color of a cherry. Not bright but not really dark.

Well you will probably need to prime it first and to save a bit of time you can get paint and primer in one. You should go to the Home Depot and ask the person at the paint counter, those people eat sleep and breathe paint and they can recommend a brand, gloss, and everything else :)

I was looking at Clark + Kensington it's paint and primer and I read the comments about it and some loved it and said it covered great and some said it sucked and left paint streaks n stuff. I think I will go a head an try it though! It's like 30 something bucks

Well most paint streaks are due to lack of skill from the painter not a defect in the paint. I'd give it a shot :) good luck !

Try painting over it with a primer first.

Put on a good white Primer, then a good indoor paint should cover it in one coat. But make sure you cover it completely with primer!

Behrs, I believe. But red? That's tough. You could put up Kilz first to coat it

I like behr base coat and paint in one. I covered ( horrible) dark green and white awning stripes in one go with that product. most of the places that sell interior paints now, will fill a small can with the color you want. that way you can test the coverage and see how the color changes with the movement of light during the day. good luck-- I love redecorating, have fun!!

I would use the Behr primer and paint in one. Ive covered up some dark colors like forest green, dark brown and red and it worked perfect. It's alittle more expensive but averages out if you were goin to buy primer and paint seperate...
