Why do people care so much about figuring out physics when physics is the study of only 5% of the matter of the universe? read details

what trying to say is why don't we have more studying the other types of unknown matter that makes up 95% of the universe? like dark matter and dark energy.

It is being studied as physics.
Give it time.

I do believe it's all covered under the umbrella of "Physics".

But then why do people still not understand what dark matter and dark energy is?

We're still in the process of figuring it out. At this point we know it's there, but exactly what it is, how it behaves, where it came from, and how it fits into what we already know about the universe, is up for grabs. I personally believe we will never know the ultimate nature of the universe or anything in it, including us.

physics is about more than matter it's self.included are the study of structures, actions reactions, and interactions.physics is the doorway, and lays the ground work for all future studies of matter. we need recognized and agreed upon, basic parameters to establish a foundation on which to build as knowlege expands.

Physics is really more how matter works/ how it is acted upon. Its the way to observe everything around us, gravity wouldnt be known with out it

That is included in physics.

Scientists are trying very hard to understand what dark matter is. The only reason they discovered it in the first place is their thorough understanding of physics, which showed that there is more matter in the universe than we can account for.
