Why were the southern colonies better for growing crops then the new england colonies

Report as

Because the Southern colonies are closer to the equator and as you progress closer to the equator it gets hotter. Like for example Canada is cold most of the year and it is further away from the equator. If you look at Brazil it is pretty much right on the equator and it is hot pretty much all year long!!! And the soil was also more fertile for the land so that also helped a lot. Hope this helped!!! :)

The soil is much richer and less rocky. The climate is also more amenable to certain crops.

New England was more industrial and politically included they didn't have time to play in the dirt

No actually new England was very industrial and in the politics but the dirt part was just to Emmy-fy the answer.

The soil is much better than up in the NE colonies and also the harsh and cold weather up north would be tough to plant and grow crops

New England was known for its industrialism. The south was original, they grew crops, due to the satisfying coniditons.

Come on people, it is the weather, not the soil. From the carolinas to Florida the soil is mostly sand, until you move quite a ways inland. I sweep it out of my house every day.
