I'm 36 weeks Doc told me yesterday I'm 1cm dilated. She says she expects to see me in 1week 4 bby's arrival. How much longer if she's wrong?

I keep on reading and hearing about women being dilated for weeks even months before water breaks. I was excited to hear the news that I was dilated this early, it is my 2nd child, and when she said she expects to see me one last time (next week) before baby is here i got real happy, but after googling and doing some research it sounds like i'll be waiting a lot longer than a week :/ Has anyone's Dr. told them they'd expect to see you back in a week after checking that u were 1 cn @ 36 weeks w 2nd child? and did you go into labor as doc predicted??

She may be right, she may be wrong. I unexpectedly had my first at 36 weeks, with my second, my doc and I expected that it may be early... But I had my second at 41 weeks instead. Every birth is different, even for the same mother. You may go into labor today, you may go into labor a month from now, even being dilated and all. I know how frustrating the wait can be at the end there, I hope you have a speedy/safe delivery =)

The doctor might not be wrong when she said that she expects to see you in a week's time before the baby is delivered. In most cases, when in the later stages of pregnancy, the cervix is always already opened up to 1 to 3 cm. that is a good sign that you still have some time.

I was dilated 6cm at 6 months! I delivered 2 weeks prior to due date. It was a pretty unpleasant couple of months!
