Itunes says the syncing session failed to start when I try to sync my ipod touch 4th gen

I tried to sync my iPod touch to my iTunes library but when it gets to the fourth step, it says the syncing session failed to start. I've tried manually syncing and automatically syncing and I still get the same result. Help!
