American influence permeated every aspect of Philippine culture such as the language. Filipinos speak in Taglish which is a combination of Tagalog and English. This is supposed to be better than speaking in pure Tagalog. Everything American is considered to be "classy" such as clothes. The Phil. government hierarchy and educational system were patterned after the US. American books are used in schools. English was taught before Pilipino was taught. Prayers are said more often in English than Tagalog or the dialect. Even American names are more common. Filipinos migrate to the US (to live permanently) more often than to other countries. Filipinos sing carols in English, rarely in Tagalog.
The effects or influences of Americans on the Philippines are numerous though some stand out. One of the most notable is the installation of an American-style democracy and the prevalent attitude that anything American is "good". They have influenced education in that schools are mostly taught in English while the level of infrastructure has improved due to American influence. http://alumni.imsa.edu/~bruce/projects/occupation5.html
