I got sand, salt water, and rust in a cut. That's not TOO dangerous, right?

I was on the beach and I was swinging a hammer at the ground. Then I accidentally cut myself with the prong end.

you're cut could be infected, disinfect it and put a band-aid over it

Well, you can definitely get an infection! Then the outcomes vary, it depends how bad was the cut and how many things got in it. Amputation probably, or worse, who knows

I think you've got bad luck..just wash, rinse, repeat. And see a doctor.

Salt water actually inhibits infections.
Which is why the surgeries on naval ships during the Civil War, had fewer deaths than those on shore. (trivial fact)

However, you should check up on your innoculations, because of the rust.

Evan, lets not take any chances, okay?! rinse it for several minutes with cool water, then wash the area with a mild soap, rinse again, pour peroxide on it and wait a couple of minutes. when dry, cover with band aide if there is a chance of bumping it and cause bleeding. change band aide often...looking for redness or undo swelling that may be signs of infection. be sure your parents are aware of this injury, so they to can help you! and stop doing goofy things on the beach that may hurt you!!! play volleyball of something! good grief!.;-)
