Can a women change a criminal into a somewhat good person?

Report as

A woman, or anyone else for that matter, can't change anyone into anything they don't want to become. Change needs to come from within and can't be done against someone's will.

Thank you. You are right, you cannot change someone who does not want to change. And i meant like to try and help someone who is having a hard time becoming a better person.

Not likely. It can happen, but why even take a chance?

No

It's one of the reasons so many women are in abusive relationships ... they ignore the signs in the early stages of the relationship, thinking they can change him. They can't.

Let's not forget ..not all criminals are abusive or come from abusive back grounds.

I wasn't talking criminals ... just in general.

Sorry .. my for my confusion .. The question asked specifically about 'criminals'.. I thought THAT is what we were talking about.

I was making the point ... or attempting to, anyway ... that most "bad" people do not change. I was also trying to do so in such a way as to warn other women not to get into abusive relationships, thinking they will change the guy - - because I see too many women who do, and wind up abused (or worse).

Yea .. I know what you mean. I've witnessed it myself. People who are emotionally damaged .. are damaged, period ... no question about it...but, having said that .. sometimes, they can overcome even the most dreadful damage...with the help of an entire system of support. A loving partner, being one of the members of that 'system' is accutely helpful.

At least it's a start .. A women's love and positive influence will never be enough to make anyone 'change' so to speak, it's a combination of things. Upbringing, drug addictions, abuse have an enormous influence on how a person thinks .. These attributes are hard to counterbalance...but .. when given a chance at a 'normal' life .. where a person is encouraged to 'heal' their wounds .. there is hope.

Indirectly .. maybe. A person can change when they find something to make them WANT to make better choices in their life. Truth is .. we tend to make better choices when we are 'happy'. Never under estimate the power of positive thinking .. and positive energy.

A criminal is already a normal person. They've just made a bad decision like everybody does at some point. But, to answer your question, I think women are good at changing one's way of thinking. It's their calmness and psychological way of reaching you that make you see things in a different light. Thank God for women. We couldn't survive without them.

No, it is not a matter of bad choices. It is usually a case of poor values.

Everybody cheats, every body breaks the rules. How much we do it is situational, based on what is considered acceptable by those around us. We all draw the line in a different place, and that place can be different day to day.

But some of us, usually because of upbringing draw it in a place that will keep getting them into trouble. Often this comes with an 'us and them' attitude, they think the world is out to screw them, and they try to screw back first...

To change them would mean changing their whole world view. It isn't easily done.

Yep every criminal needs at least 5 women around to get them out of trouble .Right?

No person can change another person. A woman could possibly provide motivation for a man to want to change. What is more likely is that the man might want to change but eventually he would revert back to his old habits. A woman might be kindhearted and really want to believe in a man and help him and knowing someone believes in him might help help him to change but she could be setting herself up for a lot of trouble and heartache. Some other times she might be letting her ego get the best of her thinking that she has the power to change someone else, again setting herself up for possible disaster. If you are considering this go into it with your eyes open and think with your brain not your heart.

A sadly mistaken belief so many women have and because of that belief they get themselves into awful relationships.
