the Wool series is really good the first one is very short and leaves you wanting to know what's really going on. I think there are 5 or 6 of them out now. or try the sword of truth novels the first 6 are good then they don't make as much sense.

I have learned of many books, and although I have not read all of them, I have heard good things about them. Some may make you cry. I may not have many suggestions, but I definitely would suggest Room if you want a kind of disturbing story with some suspense and bit of mystery. Suggestions:
Where the Red Fern Grows (Don't read this or the next one of you don't want to cry)
The Fault in Our Stars (again, you may cry)
Room (Read this one and loved it!)

If you want an inspiring and memorable story, read The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind by William Kamkwamba. Such an inspiring read.
