When people come out of jail, they become more daring to commit a crime again. I have seen this in my are........Some people who were not used to commit any crime, once they did it and went to jail.and after getting out they started commiting more crime as they had become more confident to do it again.
My understanding is that although it is possible, it is rare. I think there are at least 2 explanations for this phenomena. 1.) It is nearly impossible to find a job, let alone one that pays a living wage when you have a criminal record, and 2.) Prison is where some people are comfortable. They know the rules, they understand their place in the system, they can earn respect from their fellow inmates--this is seldom true in society. Very sad.
