When paying for gas at the pump with a Debit Card... do gas stations have the right to charge the "Credit Card" price?

Gas stations post one price for cash payments, but if you use your Debit Card, you get charged the Credit Card fee (which is usually 10 cents more per gallon). They expect all drivers to go inside and pay cash. Why are they charging less to put a human to work and more when you use the machine and do it all yourself? I just don't get it!! It's not so much "Self Service" if you have to be bothered by making sure you have cash on you and then getting out of the car to go inside and have to get in line (sometimes they're long) and pay... that's absurd!!! Hasn't anyone fought the system... we as consumers are told that using a Debit Card is the same as Cash... I guess gas stations think differently!!

I work at a gas station, although our cash and credit card is the same price I know why some do. It#039;s because the gas station has to pay a fee for taking credit cards. So they charge extra for people who use credit cards to help pay their fee. I agree its stupid though.

I understand the fee for the credit card... I'm referring to a Debit Card... which is supposed to be same as Cash.

I think they have to pay some kind of fee for that to even just a "processing"
Or "handling" fee, not fair, but what is ?

The gas station has to pay a fee to the credit/debit card middleman. To avoid this, just get cash from your banks' ATM on the way.
