What are the theories of EVOLUTION and the BIG BANG THEORY and does a normal baptist Christian believe in these theories?

I'm curious

Report as

The theory of evolution is kind of the scientific hows and whys that various flora and fauna came into being. "Complex creatures naturally evolve from more simplistic ancestors over time."

The big bang theory is a scientific explanation of the beginning of our universe.

I'm not baptist, but while not everyone accepts evolution or the big bang, many people do believe that it IS possible to acknowledge both a scientific and theistic explanations to these subjects. So some people stick 100% to the stories told in the Bible, while others will see a sort of blend between scientific theory and the holy text. Even others are religious but simply discount the stories in Genesis as, well, stories. I'm not sure what you consider "normal" but that's my explanation.

I don't think they believe in the realistic truth on how we came into existence, which is basically the Evolution and Big Bang Theories...just the mythological side of things they believe. Even though a priest ACTUALLY came up with the Big Bang theory first.

No... Baptists believe in creation like all other branches of Christianity.

Creation is not the antithesis of Evolution. Perhaps Evolution and Creation occur within one another.
(If you feel inclined to comment about incongruities between millions of years and 7 days, i will remind you that the Holy Bible says that to God, a single day is a million years, and a million years is but a single day.)

Big Bang could have been the way god chose to create, who are we to say.

Yes! someone who agrees!

You're gonna be severely disappointed in the end.......I for one dont believe in following anything out of fear of the unknown
Report as
Faith is not created from fear of the unknown, but rather comes from intuition, that which is known without knowing how.
You seem to be rather firmly stuck in your denial of possibility, though. Almost as if you cannot allow yourself to trust anything you cannot comprehend or control. Quite frankly, your reasoning, logic, phrasing, and presentation of argument seem to be unfounded and flawed, more so than can be said of any religion you wish to denounce.
Report as
Your pathetic attempt of putting me down through rhetoric makes you seem desperate at winning an argument that you started!

I just believe my Bible on a faith basis. I have not studied the other theories.
I heard this story ::
A scientist met Jesus one day. The scientist said... "We don't need you anymore.. We can clone now & we can make man by ourselves ".
God said..."ok.. Go ahead.. BUT you need to make him out of dirt ".
The scientist stooped over to pick up a handfull of dirt....
But God said... "MAKE YOUR OWN DIRT ".
I feel God is our creator.
Others can believe as they so choose.

People didn't come from dirt. What a nonsensical story.

I also believe in a creator. To me, the Big Bang could have been the way to do it. "Let there be light" and "Bang,". There was light.

Then god said to the angels, you know, I'm gonna through in a bunch of stuff before I make humans. Give em some things to think about, so they don't get bored.

The big bang and evolution are scientific facts that have been verified and refined for decades. You would be one of a very few uninformed group to not believe in these facts. It doesn't counterdict your faith as a "normal" Baptist or Christian of any kind. One is fact based and the other is faith based. You can have both.

I'm not a "normal baptist Christian" but I'll answer anyway. I think those theories are nice explanations for those who choose not to believe. I still believe in creation.

The Big Bang theory was originally proposed by a french catholic priest. Evolution was in fact stated by Darwin (a very religious man himself) that it did not necessarily apply to all living things, i.e humans.

Darwin was an Agnostic.

I believe that God used both of those to bring about the world we have today. Much as you use a hammer and nails to build a birdhouse, or use a car to get places. The hammer and the car are not the cause, they are merely part of the method.

Considering that I am an Atheist. My views on Evolution might differ. But It is perfectly acceptable for you to believe in evolution.
There is no way the earth is 6-10 thousand years old
There is no way two people can populate the earth
There is no way the earth can be flooded.

The Big Bang discusses the rapid expansion and cooling of this universe. Evolution is about change in alleluia frequencies of biological organisms over time.

Both are established scientific theories supported by well over a century of hard evidence. The vast majority of theists accept both just fine.

This is what I believe: God created us WITH evolution. He planned how we would all come to be. I believe that the Bible is SYMBOLIC. This means that I didn't take that Adam came from dust, or Eve came from Adam's rib. Perhaps Adam and Eve were the first homosapiens to evolve, and that Adam being created by dust symbolizes how the homosapiens rose from the ground into what we are today. When it says that women were made by Adam's rib bone, I took it that women are the same type of flesh of man, no matter how different they look. Even though much of the Bible is symbolic, some events were real, like Jesus's crucifixion, or Moses's journey to the promised land. This is only MY interpretation of what the beginning of Genesis has to offer about our creation. Anyways, the Bible is SYMBOLIC because if it was LITERAL, then only those who lived in the time it was written in would be able to understand it. Since it's symbolic, people all over the world in our times can interpret God's word, not just one person.

I'm a Christian, and I believe in Evolution and the big bang theory. I simply believe that God created evolution and the Big bang Theory in order to create other things.
