How many electrical outlets should you have in each room in an aptment in NYC?

Report as

You should at least have one electrical outlet in each room in an apartment in NYC. Large rooms and rooms that use electrical outlets, would most likely contain more. A kitchen would need more than one outlet due to the need of many different appliances. If there is not any electrical outlets in a room, you may want to contact the owner of the building or find out if there are any electrical outlet requirements for the city.

In accordance with the NEC, each outlet should cover no more than 6 ft in each direction of the wall (basically 1 outlet every 12 ft of wall of the room size).

Are you talking about new construction, or an existing structure ? The codes for each are different. Something built in 1930 was built to different electrical code standards that something you may be building now. For current electrical codes for new construction or new renovation, contact your city building department and they can tell you.
