It would depend on what you're arguing about. I think I would say something like I want us to be able to sit down and talk like a family and resolve the issue like a family instead of arguing which doesn't solve anything. I think that would get their attention.
I agree with littleoldpammie.. the fact that they said this means they are trying to resolve the situation. Unless you are arguing just to argue.. why would you not want them to know what you're upset about? Why do you feel the need to 'counter without answering'? This seems very immature to me. 'Countering' will do nothing to resolve your situation.
