Is this a safe condition to keep a baby turtle in?

My family and i are taking a long car ride to California and back to Kansas. You aren't allowed to vendor baby turtles in Kansas so we decided while visiting relatives in California, we can stop by the Vietnamese mall and buy some pet turtles. I heard that keeping the turtles hydrated and at the right temperature (75F - 78F), they could survive the trip. It's obviously most likely that it'll be too hot, so if a bring a cooler full of ice to keep them cool, do you think they will survive?

Sticking them in a cooler filled with ice may not be a good idea, turtles like the heat, but I would do some research if I were you. Have a fun vacation!!!!! P.S.- tell the turtles that zebra stripes said hi!!! (:

I will :D. And i was thinking more along the line of keeping near or ontop of the cooler to keep their cages cool :)
