If you have like 100 addresses on your pc can they b downloaded into a gps and give you the best route?

Google maps can but you'll have to enter every one.

So then why would the gps come w/ a USB cord?

To update the maps on it annually. When you buy a GPS it has the current data from the year it was programmed. Next year if there are new streets, attractions, highways, etc. they are not in there until you update the unit.
