Should I wear my boot (cast) to bed?

The doctor gave me a boot for my fractured foot and I didn't think to ask if I'm supposed to wear the monster to bed too.

You should ask your doctor since it depends on the damage caused. There are those that recommend it to be worn for six weeks continuously except while taking a bath. There are those who give a bandage to wrap the leg at night before sleeping.

It's already been broken for 3 weeks but just got the boot yesterday and have to wear it for 3 weeks. He didn't give me a bandage just said to wear it so perhaps I should call to clarify.p

The boot isn't to be worn to bed its just to be worn when you walk around. I had one on a few yrs ago. They hardest part is putting it back on, first off the staps are crazy the way they wrap and to bend your leg will hurt in certain positions. Plus the boot keeps you from walking on the cast and cracking it.

I don't have an actual cast just the inflatable boot. . And it is a big pain to put it on. It's quite difficult to drive with too.

Wow, never herd of that. In that case I'd keep it on. It there is no cast then you don't want to risk twisting it at night or accidentally getting up to go to the bathroom and walking on it. At least for tonight till you call a doctor.

It's approved to drive?? I would think that's dangerous, not good.

Yes and is it took 3 weeks to find out it was fractured. I was first told soft tissue damage and had been walking on it for about 3/4 of that time. Called my doctor today to check and they never called me back, so I guess I'll just be wearing it for now. And I remove it to drive because it is way to awkward and dangerous as you said.

Early on you may need to. My daughter had major surgery on her foot this year. When she got a boot she was told to sleep with it until the bones had mended significantly.

I didn't have surgery on it and haven't heard back from my doctor, so I've just been wearing it for now.

I would just sleep with it on until you get further instructions from your doctor, because sometimes post-op boots are not only used for your comfort but for healing process as well.
