Japanese money, both paper and coin, is called "yen". I include a site that has up to date conversion from Japanese yen to Philippine Peso that you can convert to U.S. Dollar.

sounds like occupation script from the time that Japan held the Phillipines. I don't know that it would have an applicable rate of exchange.if it is script,its value would be to collectors,not as currency.

since you can read it, I'll go out on a limb and assume that it has english wrtten on it. if so,that makes me think even more that it must be occupation script. it may have condiderable worth to some collectors; to a degree,the value may lie in the overall condition of the bills. going to, or calling a numismatic collectors shop ought to give you a better idea of what you have and the value. good luck with it....
