does a company have the right to wright you up or fire you over minor incidents that caused minor damages that you tried to pay for yourself

i was recently fired from a trash company for a couple of minor accidents a mailbox for example i offered to pay for at no expence to the company and they refused to allow me to make the repairs wrote me up and fired me can they do that seems kinda unethical to fire an employee of ten years over a couple of minor incidents that wouldnt have costed them a dime if they would have allowed me to make the repairs myself

Yes, they can fire you. What seems like a minor incident to you can affect liability insurance rates, business confidence, loan rates, and other things that amount to much more than the actual damage you caused.
